Coloured pencil Pet Portraits are available in all three standard sizes, 8" x 10", 12" x 16" and 20" x 24", and are the perfect choice for those wishing to have a coloured pet portrait. This is a highly versatile medium that is perfect for producing fine detail with a wide range colours to perfectly match your pet's fur.
My Pet portraits are hand drawn on Winsor & Newton 220gsm smooth surface cartridge paper. The paper is 100% acid free and 100% wood free to ensure long term stability. I use Derwent Coloursoft pencils. They are available in an extensive range of 72 different colours, which are blendable allowing an infinite number of tones to be created. They have a hexagonal barrel and narrow colour strip that allows extra control for the highly detailed work I produce.
About Coloured Pencils
Coloured pencils are made from pigment held together with a binder that creates the colour strip in the middle of the pencil. There are many different binders used by different manufacturers, creating different consistencies between pencils, some are chalky and hard, whilst others are very soft and waxy.
